Crypto Market Update: Key Movers Today

Everything is green. XRP is the standout among the majors, up 4.69% over 24 hours.

AssetPriceSince 00:00 UTC24hToday’s high

Ethereum$2,468+0.78%+3.54%$2,474

Cardano$0.2262+0.98%+4.53%$0.2266

Most of the move came late on Tuesday during US hours. The gains since midnight are modest. Ether’s seven-day range is now $2,318–$2,494 and it is up 1.9% over the week. Bitcoin is up 2.3% over seven days.

CoinDesk reports that Near led its index with a 6% gain. Zcash is up about 11% over the day after developers set a November date for its upgrade. Solana’s Alpenglow upgrade, the network’s largest since 2020, launches today.

SpaceX, Tesla and 30,000 Bitcoin

Elon Musk said SpaceX and Tesla have formed special committees to discuss a merger. The combined company would hold more than 30,000 Bitcoin, worth about $2.5 billion. SpaceX shares rose 8% in extended trading after better-than-expected results. CoinDesk has the details. The merger is a discussion, not a deal. The Bitcoin angle is real either way.

ETF Flows Went Quiet Again

US spot Bitcoin ETFs took in $23.16 million on Tuesday 20 October. That is a fraction of Monday’s $526.6 million. It is still an inflow. US spot Ether ETFs lost $26.13 million and Solana ETFs lost $2.65 million. KuCoin News has the figures. The full tables are at Farside Investors.

Monday’s number now looks like a one-off allocation rather than a change in trend. Two small positive days in a row is better than the outflows of early October. It is not a buying wave.

Macro Context: Earnings Beats Lift the Dow as AI Stocks Lag

The Dow Jones rose 1.02% on Tuesday to 52,496, its best day in weeks. The S&P 500 added 0.28% to 7,713. The Nasdaq slipped 0.02% to 26,425. 3M gained more than 5% after raising full-year guidance. Northrop Grumman rose more than 4% on an earnings beat. CNBC has the session recap.

The rotation is clear. Industrials, health care and banks did the work. AI-linked stocks stayed under pressure until SpaceX and Super Micro reported after the close. Super Micro jumped 16%. That reversed the mood in Asia.

South Korea’s Kospi rebounded 3.7% after Tuesday’s 3.7% drop. Taiwan’s Taiex gained 1.4%. The Nikkei 225 is at 64,621, up 0.85%. In the US, Netflix is down about 6% premarket after its fourth-quarter revenue forecast missed estimates. One good AI print does not settle the debate. It does buy the sector a day.

Oil Eases, Bond Yields Hold Above 5%

Oil fell on Tuesday. WTI settled at $101.79, down 1.8%. Brent settled at $108.79, down 0.7%. This morning’s futures quotes show Brent at $109.16, up 0.34%, and WTI at $98.42, down 3.31%. The WTI print reflects a contract change as much as a price move. Brent is the better guide.

Bond yields are steady ahead of next week’s Fed decision. The 10-year US Treasury yield is 5.12%, up one basis point. The 2-year yield is 4.80%. The 30-year yield is 5.43%. Trading Economics tracks the levels. Gold futures are $4,159, up 0.41%. Silver is flat at $57.73. London’s FTSE 100 is flat at 10,738. Sterling is firmer at $1.340, up 0.69%.

The US index levels above are Tuesday’s closes. Macro percentage changes compare with the previous session close. Futures quotes are not spot prices.

What Does the Technical Picture Show?

Bitcoin’s seven-day range is $79,800–$83,714. Today’s high is the top of that window. Last Wednesday’s high of $84,147 has dropped out of the seven-day calculation, but it has not gone anywhere on the chart. It is the next level up.

The levels to watch today:

The Range Is Getting Tighter

Thursday’s low was $79,800. Each low since has been higher, apart from yesterday’s brief undercut. Each high has been capped near $84,000. That is a narrowing range with a slight upward tilt. Those usually resolve with a move of several thousand dollars. The direction is not knowable in advance.

Crypto Market Update: What Is the Market Outlook?

The near-term bias has shifted to positive. The lower low on Tuesday did not hold, the rally came from Asia rather than from one ETF allocator, and Bitcoin is back at the top of its range. The test is $84,147. A daily close above it opens the way to the early-October highs.

The risk is the same as all week. AI earnings are driving equities bar by bar, and crypto is following. A disappointing print from one of the large technology companies later this week would pull Bitcoin back toward $81,200 in a hurry.

Inside the range, the strategy is unchanged. Below $82,635 the rally is suspect. Above $84,147 the range is over.
