CoinMarketCap’s separate index reads 47, Neutral.

Crypto Market Update: Key Movers Today

Everything is red, but only mildly. No major coin is down more than 1% on the day.

AssetPriceSince 00:00 UTC24hToday’s low
Bitcoin$81,535-0.49%-0.96%$81,200
Ethereum$2,386-0.90%-1.38%$2,373
Solana$104.20-0.84%-0.51%$103.67
XRP$1.298-0.44%-0.42%$1.286
BNB$728.96-0.43%+0.42%$725.00
Cardano$0.2167-0.69%-0.73%$0.2147

Ether is the weak one over the week. Its seven-day range is $2,318–$2,530 and it is down 4.5% across that window. Bitcoin is down 2.0% over the same seven days. Solana is still holding above $100.

CoinDesk reports that options traders are buying protection. On Deribit, puts have traded more than two to one against calls. Out-of-the-money puts cost 2.5 to 4 volatility points more than equivalent calls across expiries. That is a bearish skew. Traders are paying up for downside cover.

The Biggest ETF Inflow in a Month

US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a $526.6 million net inflow on Monday 19 October. That is their largest daily intake since 22 September. BlackRock’s IBIT took in $665.2 million on its own. Fidelity’s FBTC lost $83.63 million and Grayscale’s GBTC lost $54.93 million. Every other fund was flat. Crypto Briefing has the breakdown.

One fund did all the buying. That matters. IBIT flows tend to track a small number of large allocators. The inflow narrowed October’s running deficit to roughly $90 million. US spot Ether ETFs lost $103.3 million on the same day. October’s Ether ETF outflows are approaching $1 billion. The full tables are at Farside Investors.

Macro Context: Korean Chip Stocks Slump as the AI Trade Wobbles Again

Monday’s US session was a relief rally. The Nasdaq rose 1.11% to 26,431. The S&P 500 added 0.41% to 7,691. The Dow slipped 0.07% to 51,966. Amazon gained nearly 5% and Palantir more than 4%. Yahoo Finance has the recap.

Asia did not follow. South Korea’s Kospi fell 3.73% to its lowest close since 7 April. SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics led the drop as worries about AI spending returned. A South Korean data centre company, Elice, fell 32% on its market debut despite heavy retail demand. The Nikkei 225 is at 64,075, down 1.30%. CoinDesk covers the Asian session.

US futures are split this morning. S&P 500 futures are firmer on stronger factory data. Nasdaq futures are lower, led by semiconductor and AI data centre names. Earnings today include General Electric, Netflix, RTX, United Airlines and General Motors.

Oil Back Above $111

Brent crude is at $111.37, up 1.66%, after Monday’s dip. WTI reads $100.74, down 2.82%, on Yahoo’s futures quotes. The two contracts are moving apart. Brent is the one to watch for risk appetite in Europe and Asia.

Bond yields are holding. The 2-year US Treasury yield is 4.77%, down one basis point. The 10-year is holding above 5%. The 30-year yield is 5.43%. Trading Economics tracks the levels. Gold futures are $4,141, down 0.46%. Silver futures are $57.31, up 0.59%. London’s FTSE 100 is at 10,706, down 0.55%. Sterling is flat at $1.334.

Two policy items. France’s parliament approved a 31% capital gains tax on stablecoin trades. The CFTC pushed back on CME’s legal position in a dispute over perpetual futures. Neither moved prices today. Both are worth tracking.

The US index levels above are Monday’s closes. Macro percentage changes compare with the previous session close. Futures quotes are not spot prices.

What Does the Technical Picture Show?

Bitcoin’s seven-day range is $79,800–$84,147. Price sits a little below the middle. Yesterday’s high of $83,158 was rejected. Today’s low of $81,200 is below yesterday’s $81,762 low. The run of higher lows from Thursday has ended.

The levels to watch today:

Flows Up, Price Down

A $526 million inflow is roughly 6,400 Bitcoin at current prices. That is real demand. The price fell anyway. The simplest explanation is that the buying arrived on Monday, and Tuesday’s selling is tracking Korean equities. Flows are reported with a day’s lag. Price is not.

The options skew says traders expect more of the same. That does not make it so. It does mean the market is positioned for a dip, which sometimes limits the dip.

Crypto Market Update: What Is the Market Outlook?

The near-term picture is a tug of war. Monday’s ETF inflow and the equity rebound argue for support. Tuesday’s Korean sell-off and the options skew argue for caution. Price is doing what price does in that situation, which is drift lower on low conviction.

The level to hold is $80,684. Keep it and this is noise inside a $4,300 range. Lose it and $79,800 gets its second test, which Friday’s update warned would hurt more than the first.

A move back above $82,272 would reset the tone. A daily close above $83,158 is what the bulls actually need.
